This is one of the more polished pieces I've read. The story moves very fluidly from scene to scene, character to character and save for one jarring move it's all pretty seamless. The author does a nice job of concisely conveying character--though we don't spend a lot of time on each one, we get a strong sense of who each is. In the Lux. section, I thought at times the author told us too much about characters rather than letting info. be revealed through dialogue or action or description, but that ended with the American scenes. I'm not sure we need the opening--doesn't seem to add much. Most of us probably picture Lux. in that same fashion and the small-town aspect is conveyed well enough in the scene itself.
