‘Goodbye Ana’ is Kate Le Page’s first publication of poetry. This collection of poems shares the author’s battle to achieve and maintain recovery from anorexia nervosa. The work offers the reader a powerful, emotive insight into what life is really like when viewed through the eyes of an anorexic.

This book aims to explain the cognitive distortions that accompany starvation and seeks to hold the sufferer captive as well as to challenge the many misconceptions about the illness.

About the Author

Kate Le Page was born in April 1978 in Guernsey, Channel Islands. From a young age, she acquired a love of travel and a keen interest in language through sending holidays in Deventer, Holland. Following her graduation in Early Childhood Studies, Kate divided her time between working in Early Years Education and volunteering for Fuel – a Christian Eating Disorders Charity. She organised conferences involving eating disorder specialists from the UK and Canada aimed at educating health professionals and supporting sufferers, relatives and carers.

Kate was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa in 1998. During hospitalisations at Marchwood Priory EDU she found solace in writing poetry which helped her to express the intense emotions experienced in the fight for recovery. Kate is currently training to be a Counsellor and has recently been awarded a diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
